Hawkins Water, a Water Softener Company in Michiana

Imagine a product that reduces your grocery bill, cuts your bathroom cleaning in half, helps you eat and cook healthier, protects your home, and makes your skin, hair, and towels softer.

If you live in the Michiana area, there’s no need to imagine, a Hawkins Water Softener can do all this and more.

While there are many benefits to softening your water with a Hawkins Water Softener, here are the top 5.

1. Your water heater will last longer

Scale and lime buildup created by minerals will not take place if your water is soft. This adds life to your hot water heater. Also, if you have deposits in your water heater, the University of New Mexico found it will cost up to 29.6% more to heat the water that your family does use. Many tankless systems clearly state in the owner’s manual to use soft water with their systems to prolong their life and reduce buildup.

2. Having soft water saves you money… a lot of it!

According to a study by the Battelle Institute, you use up to 75% less soap and fewer cleaning products with soft water. Considering the soap and detergent aisle is the most expensive aisle in the grocery store, your budget will immediately reflect the savings!

Save on Soap with Soft Water

3. Your plumbing will last longer

Hard water can cause a buildup of scale from mineral deposits. Over time, pipes and fixtures can clog, water flow can diminish, and water pressure can be reduced. This doesn’t happen with soft water. Soft water is low in mineral content and therefore doesn’t leave deposits in the pipes.

4. Get baby-soft skin and sleek hair with soft water

Hard water minerals buildup on your skin & hair causing it to dry out. You know that “squeaky” clean feeling after a shower? Well, that’s not the feel of your natural skin. Often it’s the result of minerals bonding with your soap to stick to your skin. Hard water can also contribute to razor burn while soft water causes the razor to glide more easily across the face & body.

Soft Water means more bubbles

5. Water-using appliances will last longer… much longer

Whether it’s your coffee pot, humidifier, dishwasher, washing machine, or your hot tub, your hard water is causing a buildup of minerals and reducing the life of these products. Soft water reducing mineral buildup and prolongs the life of the appliance.

Soft water saves your water using appliances

Arlin and Corbin were right on time and were both great guys with fantastic attitudes despite the old houses goofy plumbing.
Please let them know how appreciative I am of their work and attitudes!

Oh, almost forgot, I am very confident that our rusty, hard water problem will be a thing of the past.

From working with Curt on making the initial appointment and getting the estimate, to the office person I spoke to when paying, to Shawn being so helpful with scheduling the install, to the gentleman (and I am sorry I did not get his name) [Nate] who did the installation, I am truly impressed. Everyone has been so courteous and helpful.
Hopefully I won’t need any assistance other than filling the system with salt but I feel assured that, if something does go wrong, your company will handle the issue just as quickly and efficiently as the installation process has been.
I would recommend you all highly.

When our son gave us a new Rainsoft water treatment system, we were grateful….until the brine tank overflowed three times! We needed help, so we called Hawkins Water Tech.
Upon examining the installation, Kevin (the service tech) observed that the carbon filtration unit was plumbed ahead of the softener, which meant it was doing the “heavy lifting” of removing iron, a task that was well beyond its intended assignment.
Kevin re-plumbed the carbon unit and reprogrammed the softener, even though it is not one Hawkins sells. He did an outstanding job and his knowledge, work effort and demeanor were a fine reflection on your company.

We built a new house about 9 years ago and had your company install one of your great water softeners. We also continued to buy all of our salt from you. A couple months ago after I cleaned out the salt tank, we stopped having soft water. I called and talked to one of your service guys and was ready to pay for a service call. He told me what to do over the phone and it took care of the problem. I just want to thank you for the great service and a great product.

Atta Boy to Mr. Nick!
Professional, courteous, kind,
knowledgeable, and quick.
And, we felt safe with him in the house.
We are very very pleased with his service!
Thank you for sending him our way!

Frequently Asked Water Softener Questions:

What is the best water softener?

We might be biased, but we believe the best water softener for your home is an EcoWater Systems Softener. Our softeners are WQA certified and have NSF/ANSI Standard 44 certified components.

How does a water softener work?

4100A water softener works by swapping calcium & magnesium ions with sodium ions. The swap eliminates hard water problems because sodium doesn’t leak out into pipes. The ion swap takes place within a compartment full of small resin beads. The negatively charged beads are bonded to positively charged sodium ions. As the water flows past the beads, the sodium ions swap places with the calcium and magnesium ions, which carry a stronger positive charge. Over several cycles, the calcium and magnesium replace all of the sodium in the beads, rendering the unit no longer ineffective. Water softener salt to the rescue! The softener enters a regeneration cycle during which it soaks the beads in a strong solution of water and salt. The sodium in the brine solution causes the calcium and magnesium ions in the beads to give way, and the beads are recharged with sodium. After regeneration, the water softener flushes the remaining brine, plus all of the calcium and magnesium, through a drainpipe.

What is a water softener?

1500A Water Softener is a filtration system that works to remove high concentrations of calcium and magnesium that cause hard water.

How much does a water softener cost?

1300Water softener cost between $400 and $2,700. They are designed to be easy to install and remove (good news if you want to take your unit with you when you move). However, unless you are confident in your electrical and plumbing abilities, you might want to hire a plumber, which could add $100 to $600 to the initial cost of your unit. Purchasing a water softener through a water softener installation company can save you money on installation costs. Contact us today for a free quote.
